All Things Denote There is a God- The Amazing Humming Bird
Life is an absolute miracle. The divine origin of life can not be explained away by scientific evidence nor theories. Think of the lowly humming bird, a diminutive creature that only occasionally crosses our radar. The humming bird is amazing! Its tiny wings flap at a rate of 50-200 times per second, allowing them to fly backwards and upside down at up to 34 miles per hour! Their heart rate can be greater than 1,200 times per minute! To sustain this activity, they have nearly the highest metabolic rate of all animals, consuming more than their own weight in nectar each day. My limited understanding of the humming bird helps me see the miracle of life on this earth. And God’s greatest creations, man and woman, are much more complex than the little humming bird. Indeed our lives are a miracle and we are all of divine origin.
All Things Denote There is a God- Death, The Door to the Next World
Many in the world work to “prove” there is no God and there is no life after this earthly existence. I recently visited the grave site of my sweet mother, Karlene, who passed away in 2009. In 2011 we lost our dear son David. The loss of these precious loved ones has opened my eyes and heart more fully to the reality of life beyond this mortal journey. I know we will live in a spirit realm after this life and I know that spirit realm is closely intertwined with our current earthly sphere. There are important interchanges between these two worlds every day. Some would day that death is the end and proves there is no God. But death has had the opposite effect on me, strengthening my faith and trust in the Lord and in His eternal plan for us.
All Things Denote there is a God- Light Comes after Dark
The journey of life is filled with peaks and valleys- beautiful vistas and dark recesses. It is often after our most difficult challenges that we are blessed with light and brightness. In fact, we can not fully appreciate our blessings from God until we traverse the challenges of mortality. The pattern of the morning darkness giving way to a beautiful, bright, sunrise is God’s daily reminder to us that His light and His blessings will come if we but stay patient and faithful to Him. He will allow all things to work for our good.
Gratitude- Draper, Utah Temple
I love to photograph the temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I had a recent opportunity to visit the Draper, Utah temple where a good friend and his fiancee were sealed together as husband and wife. Through a special marriage ordinance in the temple, they were married not only until death do they part, but their marriage will remain in force after death and into the eternities.
Gratitude- Music Soothes the Soul
Yesterday, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang an amazing rendition of “Let Us All Press On,” a favorite among hymns in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This one really struck my heart and made me thankful for good music and the way it affects our souls. I hope you enjoy this masterpiece.
