I have been impressed that there is an important power associated with our family relationships. I don’t think we can appreciate fully the good that is done as we give of our time and energy and love to those that are part of our family tree. We may get glimpses of the blessings that flow from such interactions, but I think the real potential of these relationships goes beyond our current ability to understand. I am grateful for my dear family members.
The holiday season is upon us. I am grateful for the traditions, gatherings and love that are shared as each year closes out. I hope this will be a wonderful and peaceful time for each of you and for your families.
David duChemin is a world and humanitarian photographer. His mantra is “Gear is good, vision is better.” His contributions to the world of photography education are unique and well-founded, focusing on those things that really matter in the images we create. I heard him on a podcast today and was impressed with many of his thoughts. One that particularly resonated with me was, “Anyone who is truly a master of something is very much still a learner.” This wise statement emphasizes the need to learn and grow and change every day of our lives. It is the journey, not the destination, that should be delicious to us.
I am amazed at the ways technology has entered and enriched my life in the last 5 years. I try not to let technology become the issue, in and of itself. But used appropriately, technology extends our reach and provides new ways to serve those around us. There are many innovative leaders, but Apple has led the way with an amazing array of products and services in recent years. Love or hate Apple, they have changed the world. I am grateful to have a small bite of Apple in my own life.
With the perspective of time, I look back at my full-time mission service with a very grateful heart. It was a two-year experience that critically shaped my life as a young man. It was there that I grew substantially in my convictions of the reality of God and of his love for me, one of his many sons. Argentina is a beautiful country with beautiful people. I hope to return there someday.
